Dear Faith Chapel Family and Friends, Jesus talked about doing simple acts of kindness in His name, in Matthew 10:40-42: ‘”He who receives you receives Me, and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me. (41) He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward. And he who receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward. (42) And whoever gives one of these little ones only a cup of cold water in the name of a disciple, assuredly I say to you, he shall by no means lose his reward.'” (NKJV)

The beauty of this passage is its stress on simple things. We will draw very high marks from the Lord if we simply give a cup of cold water, to even the most insignificant recipient, simply because Jesus is in us, and we want to be like Him. These verses teach, that the simplest act of kindness shown in Jesus’ name is rewarded. All we are being asked to do, is to help others in simple, practical ways. Our relationship with God through Jesus Christ our Lord is personal, yes, but it is not meant to be private. Because Christ lives in us, and because other people matter to God, we are to serve others and show simple kindnesses as His representatives on this planet. It might mean giving weary travelers a literal drink of water, or providing a free car wash (with no strings attached), to show God’s love in practical ways. By demonstrating the kindness of God through humble acts of service (with no strings attached), we hope that God’s love will be demonstrated through our actions. And we hope that our loving actions will open the door for us to be able to tell others about the God we serve, and about how much He loves them! Our life with God is designed to touch others in practical ways. Pastor Keith

Thank you Faith Chapel Family for being the hands of Jesus extended in many different ways to our community. Let’s continue reaching out in ways that show the main thing of God’s love at work!
